Not liking waste, I scrubbed the remaining paint from my palette onto this canvas after working on the Washington Street Mall paintings. It looked like a green wave, so I enhanced the effect and added pale grey and white for the wave’s crest, and added the bright yellow to the beach to echo the sky. The indistinct edge between the sky and the horizon adds a lonely, serene quality to the scene. Sometimes a painting doesn’t have a certain meaning beyond being a pleasing scene.
