Black-headed Laughing Gulls mix in with Ring-Billed Gulls and black-capped Terns. I love to hear the sounds these birds make as they socialize along the shoreline. 
 
I kept the colors of the beach and water fairly simple, using the same color for both the bird’s shadows on the sand and water’s highlights. I added very few details, allowing the black, white & grey paint to simply form individual birds and their postures. At the end I emphasized legs and beaks with a splash of orange. This piece does not really have a message beyond diversity.
