I have never been to successfully center a seagull in the middle of a photo when shooting with my phone or with a camera, so I painted this guy just like my photos…on his way out of the frame. The varied blue sky has a hint of cloud as the bird casually drifts along.

I used both warm & cool colors in the background to emphasize the simple black, white & grey tones on the bird. I also left the background less defined than the bird, giving him the illusion of flight.
