This was the first of the online floral still life courses I took. The lesson was about acrylic glazing technique, which is heavily employed here in the shine on the top of the water, in the bottle, and in the shadows on the table and bottom of the glass.
I very much dislike the overall color tone in this composition. I was painting on a cloudy day with the aid of the floor lamp. The color of light the lamp throws I find difficult to work with, so when I do now use it, I set it up to reflect light into the mirror near the doorway into the rest of the room. I do, however, think that this lesson was a success, and gratefully utilize the techniques learned on a regular basis.
