This is an older painting, one that I did when I first took the plunge, hoping to make my art if not my whole career, at least a significant portion of it. I’ve learned a lot about color harmony, the use of mediums, technique, and a slew of other things, but I still am proud of and love this amateurish piece. Warm thanks to all of my friends and family for cheering me on!
I don’t live close enough to the beach to see it when I wake up, but I do enjoy going into town to walk in the mornings. This is what I saw when I walked the promenade in Cape May one steamy, sultry morning. Grey humidity hangs in the sky while the sun shines brightly off the smooth ocean. Even when you know you have to go home and mow the lawn under a hot August sun, you can take a brief moment to revel in simple beauty.
