This was an assignment from a course I took online. The idea behind the exercise was to learn to paint the translucent flesh of the cut orange, and to find a way to translate the detailed pattern on the dish. There’s no missing the bright citrus, but the longer you look at this, the more you notice the pale blue color that represents light bouncing off the fruit onto the dish.
