What is your name, and where do you live?
Audrey, Cape May, NJ
What is the title, who is the creator, and where did you purchase it?
Underwater Exploration, by Sidney Gary, at his one-man show at Art Space on Park Boulevard in West Cape May last summer.
What first drew you to the item and has that sentiment changed in any way?
I have always admired Sidney's work, but he usually does still lifes. I bought this because it was different than most of the other pieces in his show. It has a lot of action and directional lines. I also appreciate the contrasting colors between the foreground and background. The paint is layered so that the brights have a certain luminosity that readily catches your eye.
Does this item fit with other parts of your collection, or is it different for you?
This is almost like something I would paint...all kinds of colors and textures jumbled on top of one another. Someone who was visiting my home studio actually asked if I had painted it. I hope he had as much fun creating it as I do when I paint.
Where do you display or use it?
This is currently hanging in our Florida room, up over top of the windows that wrap around 3 walls. It's the perfect size for the space, and has a bright enough colors to draw attention, even up fairly high.
