What is your name, and where do you live?
Audrey, Cape May, NJ
What is the title, who is the creator, and where did you purchase it?
Champignons (Mushrooms) print, Jacques Pepin, online from his fantastic art website.
What first drew you to the item and has that sentiment changed in any way?
I wanted a gift for Bruce that blended our tastes when we began dating several years ago. Bruce loves mushrooms, and Chef Pepin is my favorite food personality, so this was the perfect choice. It was a little pricey, but I think it has brought us tenfold joy.
Does this item fit with other parts of your collection, or is it different for you?
I usually don't buy art without seeing it in person, so that is different. And I usually purchase art from people I have met personally. I have not met Chef Pepin, but for decades have been a fan and watched him cook on PBS and on his Facebook page, so I do feel that I sort of know him. I'm at the very least a top fan of his.
Chef Pepin just celebrated his 90th birthday, so it makes me feel as if we participated in his great journey through life and food. I also treasure his memoir, "The Apprentice: My Life in the Kitchen". It seems to be out of print now, but you can find a used copy online or get a Kindle version from Amazon.
Where do you display or use it?
This hangs in our kitchen. Where else would you put mushrooms? The stacked wood frame looks so like our countertop cutting board, but that was pure luck!
