• What is the title, who is the creator, and where did you purchase it?

  Box Drop, by Cape May watercolor artist Joe Milligan. I bought this for Bruce at The Mad Batter Restaurant during the Artists Guild of the Cape Winter Show.

  
  

• What first drew you to the item and has that sentiment changed in any way?

  This was a Christmas gift for Bruce. He had admired it when we were at the bar having a drink, and I wanted him to have it.

  It reminds me of Steve Steger and a few of the other people I know who work for him at his family's beach service, so it's kind of personal. It represents upcoming summer beach days with family, friends, and sunshine galore.

  
  

• Does this item fit with other parts of your collection, or is it different for you?

  It's fairly large, and was a bit on the costly side, but when buying gifts, sometimes you just have to plunge right in. I have never suffered a pang of buyer's remorse over this piece.

  It features strong colors in the boxes and figures, but most of the scene is fairly lightly painted. The length of the beach is indicated by truck tracks in the sand and the faint fence. I think it's very well balanced, and the matting & framing fits the piece wonderfully.

  
  

• Where do you display or use it?

  It hangs in our foyer, over a narrow table. It's one of the first things and last things you see whether coming or going from our home.
